VERLOREN is a work about a notebook, believed to belong to a former Bauhaus student from 1920, who attended Johannes Itten’s ‘Vorkurs’. This notebook, found by the artist at a flea market, contains detailed notes from the ‘Vorkurs’ - the course all students had to take before deciding on their specialization - as well as vivid thoughts of the student, illustrated or scribbled throughout the pages. The notes speak of the student’s awe towards his teacher, the relationships between the students in the class, tensions inside the Bauhaus and personal interpretations of the deep and sometimes unsettling philosophies of one of the most celebrated teachers of the original Bauhaus: Johannes Itten.
