ASHA’S PLACE AT KIOSK
Asha Lester

participatory events, sculptural objects, events took place every Saturday in June 2019, at Kiosk 6, Sophienstiftsplatz 2, Weimar.

The series of participatory events asks people to engage with creativity, imagination, making, and play as key components of human exchange that are, however, not necessary for survival.  Setting up at Kiosk 6 in Weimar, the artist will exchange ephemeral hand-made papier-mâché objects with members of the public who may expect to receive or experience a something different. The artist subverts expectations of giving and receiving in a social interaction by handing out objects that are worth nothing but the time she invested in creating them. By emphasizing shared experiences, she questions hierarchies of value and proposes a revaluation of what is considered necessary.
